Imagine what life would be like for a person to live in an environment where he is able to overcome the feelings of pain and suffering due to difficult life circumstances such as disease, war, broken relationships, and hostility. Imagine what life would be like for him to be in a constant state of awe and wonder at the vast beauty he sees instead of struggling with feelings of despair and hopelessness that there is nothing left in the world, he once called home. Doubt, shame, and uncertainty start to enter his mind, but as he encounters a mysterious presence who welcomes him with a warm embrace of love and peace, he slowly begins to develop a worshipful heart and responds in gratitude through song and prayer for being rescued. Through song and prayer, his soul is quickly captivated by the transformative power of this warm presence. No longer does he desire to return to reality, but instead longs to encounter the Creator of this presence, face-to-face. The Creator takes delight in this special moment and begins to lavish His love upon him.
As time goes on, he faces opposition by those he meets on a daily basis and feels rather skeptical and uncertain that the encounter with the Creator is real but he tries his best to keep going. He longs for this moment to last forever because his soul has tasted something different, something sweet, that is not offered in this world; however, due to the business of life, he is drawn back to ordinary tasks and responsibilities, which once again leaves him with a deep feeling of emptiness in his soul. He is then reminded of the welcoming, warm embrace he once encountered. He faithfully calls out for help, not knowing where it came from, but the Creator immediately responds. At that moment, his eyes are opened to the reality that this Creator, the God of the universe, delights in him and wants to be in a personal relationship with him regardless of his imperfections, faults, and rebellious nature. He realizes that all the Creator desires is to be united, once again, with His creation.
Though this is a fictional story, it is one that is true and relevant to all of humanity today. Since the beginning of time, God has created humanity, you and me, in His image and desires to enter into a personal relationship with them. God has created you with the desire to admire beauty and to worship Him; however, as evident throughout history, it did not always work out that way. One thing is true, though, that as you encounter the presence of Jesus, your life will be transformed.
